The Healthy Homes Standard was introduced in July 2019, and will take effect on July 1st 2021.
These new laws have been introduced to raise the standard of living across the 500,000+ rental properties in New Zealand, creating warmer and dryer living environments for us and our future generations.
A major component of this standard is the requirement for a heat pump in nearly all cases of residential rental properties. This is because modern heat pumps not only provide heating and cooling on command with extreme efficiency, but also help to purify the air in the home while removing moisture.
